Lomography in New Orleans

I set out to capture the magic of New Orleans, Louisiana. Armed with a backpack full of Lomography cameras, I had only one day to set out what I intended to do. This city is very dear to me and I really wanted to capture the essence of the people, food, and culture that make up this city. As they say in NOLA, "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler"!

Walking through the French Quarter can be sensory overload. The sounds swept me off my feet! Get ready to dance through the streets to the tunes of live jazz and zydeco music. Go hungry and prepare to feast like a king! In NOLA, you can have your cake and eat it too! Try a little bit of everything-- Cafe Du Monde beignets, Dickie Brennan's bananas foster, or an old-fashioned hamburger from Port-of-Call. The locals are the salt of the earth aka the friendliest people you will ever meet. Get ready ro swap great tall tales, receive a pat on the back, and a warm smile of approval.

After 8 years, Pedro & April are finally MARRIED!!!

The world would be a better place if everyone was as wonderful as April & Pedro. The amazing part of my job is the people I meet. Sometimes that alone is worth every second. Pedro & April were two of the most genuine, wholesome, and beautiful people that I have ever met. I enjoyed this wedding so much that I stuck around for an extra hour just cause I couldn't get enough! I got tons of great pics, smiles, and love!!! Congrats April & Pedro, I wish you the best in the world!!! Thank you for making me part of your special day!!

Well, I just missed the blizzard and thank goodness because people from the south don't do well in blizzards.

Morgan City Louisiana

This picture was taken in my first undergraduate photography class. I had a manual Canon AE-1 and spent many of hours dodging and burning in the dark room to get this photo. Living in a digital world, it may be hard to keep sight of why photography is an art. This photo hangs at my desk to remind me of the art in photography. I bought the film, learned the mechanics of my camera, and then headed to the darkroom. Darkrooms are serious business for beginners. It gets easier but initially it's a dim red battlefield. Through everything, the reward is the great. The hours, the faulty enlargers, the stinky chemicals, and the expensive paper, oh the expensive paper, made photography a true art form. Photography is beautiful! A lot of love goes into this field!

Who knew Warhol's Marilyn Monroe portrait was so small but on a large canvas? It's a little bigger than my hand.
Who knew that Monet's water lily's were so big?
Pollock enjoyed putting keys, nails, bolts, screws, etc... in some of his works. There I stand in front of Pollock, complete fazed & crossed and in love.
